Endangereds Species Need Your Help
Endangered species are species that have a large risk of becoming extinct. Today we are currently facing the worst series of species extinctions since the loss of dinosaurs, 65 million years ago. It is estimated that 99 percent of currently threatened species are at risk due to human activities. While extinction is a naturally occurring phenomenon, it occurs naturally at a background rate of about 1 to 5 species per year. Scientists estimate species are becoming extinct anywhere from 1,000 to 10,000 times the natural background rate. At the current rate, as many as 30 to 50 percent of all species could face extinction by mid-century. Together we can start to create change by giving people a better understanding of the issue and how extreme it really is.
